Donors voice concerns over Taliban rule as UN seeks funds

Donors have voiced concerns over giving money to an Afghanistan run by the Taliban, as the United Nations raised a billion dollars for humanitarian assistance.


A United Nations-hosted international aid conference for Afghanistan has raised $1.4 billion [[AUD]] in aid for the suffering population.    UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres says the country's economy is on the brink of disaster.  World leaders and the UN human rights chief voiced concerns about the Taliban's first steps in establishing power and government in Afghanistan. Mr Guterres says it is important to engage with the Taliban to support the people of Afghanistan
