With millions of Americans gathering together for the annual Labor Day holiday in the United States, health officials are preparing for another surge in case numbers in the next couple of weeks. Last year between mid-September and the Thanksgiving holiday in late November, the country's daily case average rose by more than 400 per cent, followed by record numbers of hospital admissions and deaths. 62 per cent of people over 12 in the US are fully vaccinated. And in India, there are similar concerns about people gathering together and spreading the virus ahead of the 10-day Ganpati festival, which starts on the 10th of September

Health officials in the United States are preparing for another surge in COVID-19 cases in the next couple of weeks after thousands of Americans gathered together to celebrate the annual Labor Day holiday weekend.
