Moderate alcohol consumption for older Australians has been found to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. That is according to a new study which followed the drinking habits of 18,000 people over the age of 70.

The benefits of an alcoholic drink or two for older people have been released in a new study led by Monash University.  More than 18,000 people participated in the study from Australia and the United States.  They had a median age of 74. The study recommended a healthy alcohol intake of five-to-ten standard drinks per week, or one or two glasses per day. The study focused on drinking in moderation and people who enjoyed relatively good health.
