For more than 120 years, the losers of a presidential election have conceded defeat. The tradition started in 1896 by democrat William Jennings Bryan who, as a simple courtesy, sent a congratulatory telegram to to his republican opponent William McKinley.
Over the years since, 32 concession speeches have marked the end of often close, and always heated, contests. The exception is Donald Trump who seems to be unable to concede defeat in spite of Joe Biden's convincing election victory
