Disability advocates are calling for urgent reforms to the Disability Support Pension with new research showing eligibility thresholds mean many are left struggling financially on the lesser Newstart payments.

Disablity advocates say the Government needs to spend an additional $3.1 billion a year increasing the disability pension to address a major disparity in living standards, with the research showing an adult with a disability pays over 100 dollars a week more on the basics like healthcare and transport, than the wider community.
