The gas pipeline Nordstream 1 will be shut for 10 days for maintenance; Germany is concerned that the pipeline will be shut permanently.

The parliament has tightened  Finnish border control powers, to hinder possible Russian attempts to use migrants in its political game by sending large numbers of  migrants to the Finnish border.

Leading virologist Mika Salminen says that the low number of intensive care patients indicates that COVID vaccines still offer protection against serious illness.

The Centre Party's honorary chairman Paavo Väyrynen has  criticised sharply Finland's application for NATO membership in spite of parliament approving of it with 188 votes for and 8 votes against.
