Tough sanctions on Russia announced following its troop deployment to Ukraine

The United States and others have announced sanctions against Russia and some of its high-profile citizens in response to its deployment of troops into Eastern Ukraine.

President Joe Biden says the United States is ordering heavy financial sanctions against Russian banks and oligarchs.  He says Russia has flagrantly violated international law by invading Ukraine.  On Tuesday [[Feb 22]] Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian troops to enter two separatist regions of Ukraine - Donetsk and Luhansk - after declaring their independence.
