Christophe André Kerambloch is facing a charge of dangerous driving causing the death of Michael Lorne in July last year.

ABC says that the man was allowed to go back to France to visit his dying father. His trial was supposed to start today in Perth, but he informed his lawyer yesterday that he intended to stay in France. He says that his dad was very sick and that he didn't want to upset his family even more.

Judge Anthony Derrick issued a warrant for his arrest, which should apply in France since the country has an extradition treaty with Australia.

The victim's family said they were disappointed by the absence of Christophe Andre Kerambloch, but that they were confident he would be extradited back to Australia to stand trial.
