Suffering from a skin condition, according to The Age newspaper, this yellow opossum was discovered by Australian veterinarians at the Boronia Clinic near Melbourne.

This animal - in addition to being really cute - looks strangely like Pikachu, the most famous Pokemon; yellow, big ears and big eyes all black.

Veterinarians have chosen not to reveal where the animal was from, to avoid attracting fans of the cartoon.
The opossum is almost albino and therefore has a low melanin level. This will explain the yellow color.

"As it is a nocturnal animal, its fairly pale coat would expose it to many predators like owls," says Dr. Kath Handasyde of the University of Melbourne Biosciences.

Even though these yellowish-colored animals are rare, this is not the first time that similar mutations have been observed on opossums in Australia.

Veterinarians want, for now, to keep the animal with them for more observations.
