In a video, passengers on the Bali-Perth flight had to tie fists and legs, then tie the 32-year-old man to his seat.
The French couple was completely drunk and one of the passengers, John Caputo, told Seven News: "They were quite jovial, but he got out of control".
"We had to appease him, and we constantly told him to calm down, but we had to use force to keep him in his chair because he obviously wanted to go out."
The flight was delayed by two and a half hours and the pilot was forced to head to Port Headland.
They were arrested and detained when the plane landed in Perth.
