Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry latest work is as magical as usual, but there's something different... His short film was shot with an iPhone 7 Plus.
It was all part of a marketing stunt for Apple, who then also released a series of masterclasses on their website for viewers to learn more how to shoot a film like Michel Gondry on their own devices.
It's far from the first time that Gondry has gone commercial. While he might have an Academy Award under his belt, the director his not just about cinematic features. In the past he's shot commercials for brands including Motorola, Smirnoff and Levi's to name just a few. He is also known for shooting many iconic music videos including The Hardest Button to Button by the White Stripes, Around the World by Daft Punk and Army of Me by Bjork.
Gondry's newest short offering, the 10-minute film Détour, tells the story of a family going on a vacation and the tricycle they leave behind. It's in French with English subtitles.
