Lacoste's iconic crocodile disappears in favor of endangered species

Teaming up with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Lacoste has decided to remove its very famous crocodile in a special line of polo shirts named Save our Species and featuring ten of the most threatened animals in the world. A great idea in order to contribute to a very important environmental issue and a clever marketing move for the sportswear brand.

Launched at Paris Fashion Week 2018, the Save Our Species Capsule collection is made of ten limited edition polo shirts where the iconic crocodile steps aside for ten threatened species. The number produced in each series corresponds to the remaining population sizes in the wild of each species as estimated by experts from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Lacoste is selling 67 polo shirts with the Sunda Rhinoceros, 30 Vaquitas dolphins and 450 Anegada ground iguanas. You will also find the Burmese roofed turtle, the Kakapo parrot, the Northern sportive lemur or the Cao Vit gibbon. In total, 1 775 polo shirts have been made, each costing US $185 (around 150 euros), which can be purchased on the Save Our Species microsite.

The money will help fight for wildlife conservation worlwide.
This is the very first time in 85 years that Lacoste has removed its famous logo, the crocodile, which was the nickname of Lacoste's founder, tennis player René Lacoste, a ferocious beast on the court.
