Loose seal in Tasmanian streets

Residents of Newstead, Tasmania, probably wondered if they drunk more than they should have on Christmas day when they woke up on the 26th to find a seal roaming the streets !

Nicknamed Lou-Seal by Tasmanian police, the 200 kg seal wandered the streets of the Launceston suburb and even jumped on the hood of a car.

How did the seal managed to make it so far from the ocean? According to locals, Lou-Seal probably swam to a close-by estuary looking for food.

Lou-Seal was tranquilised by Parks and Fauna employees and was released at the beach.
