The Paris City Hall will hold a special auction on May 13, selling love locks removed from its bridges.
Dangerous locks
The love locks are attached to the bridges of the city by couples who write their initials on them and then throw the key in the Seine, symbolising that their love is unbreakable.
Since 2008, several tons of locks have been attached to Parisian bridges, creating many problems.
Part of the railing of Pont des Arts collapsed into 2014 under the weight of the locks. They were removed in 2015 and glass railings were installed the following year on several bridges.
What can you buy?
Fifteen bridge railing sections and 150 bunches of locks will be exhibited at Crédit Municipal de Paris from 10 to 13 May, before being auctioned.
The profits will go to three charities helping refugees settle in France: solipam, Emmaüs Solidarité and Armée du Salut.
"It's the occasion to do a good deed while acquiring a part of Paris history," said City Hall officials in a statement.
