The tiny marsupial from Flinders Island, an island north-east of Tasmania, lost his mom after she was hit by a car.
To make sure he gets all the cuddles he deserves, Tourism Tasmania launched a competition to find a chief wombat cuddler.
The winner and a friend will be flown from their nearest Australian capital city to Tasmania’s Flinders Island. They'll spend time with Derek and explore the island for three days.
