Dans un contexte économique difficile, le gouvernement fédéral a encouragé une augmentation des salaires les plus faibles, sans la chiffrer. ACTU, The Australian Council of Trade Unions, appelle à une augmentation de salaire de 7% pour les travailleurs les moins bien payés afin de suivre le rythme de l'inflation. The Fair Work Commission prendra une décision sur les salaires minimum en juin prochain.
