Kosumenten sind dringend davon abgeraten, Wasser, das aus dem "Easy Home Spiral Spring Mixer" stammt, zu trinken oder zum Kochen zu verwenden.
Michael de Brenni, der zuständige Minister in Queensland, warnt:
"If you've bought this product, you should stop using water from the tap immediately. You should see your health professional, you should also seek the services of a licensed plumber to remove the tap."
"Es besteht Grund zur Beunruhigung", erklärt Brett Bassett, der Leiter der "Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC)", gegenüber der "Courier Mail".
12.000 Stück wurden in ganz Australien von Aldi verkauft
Das Modell, das im Juni 2017 für $79,99 erhältlich war, wurde in ganz Australien knapp 12.000 Mal verkauft.
Wie Tests ergaben sei das Wasser gesundheitsgefährdend. Der Wert an giftigem Blei liege 15 Mal höher als die Norm, so QBCC.
"Der Wasserhahn wurde 12.000 Mal installiert. Wie viele Leute könnten damit also in Kontakt gekommen sein? Die Zahl ist enorm", gibt Penny Cornah von "Master Plumbers Australia" zu bedenken.

Keine Rückhol-Aktion, aber Kaufpreis-Rückerstattung
In einer Erklärung gegenüber News Corps äußerte sich Aldi Australia Montagmittag zu den Vorwürfen:
“The Spiral Spring Mixer Tap, on sale as a Special Buy on 10 June 2017, was independently tested and confirmed to comply with Australian standards prior to going on sale.
“Aldi is liaising with the responsible Authorities and our Supplier to investigate the matter with utmost urgency. If at any stage test results confirm that chemical parameters do not meet regulatory requirements, ALDI will take appropriate action.
“Aldi will always remove any product from sale if it is identified as a risk to our customers. If any customer is unsatisfied with a product purchased at ALDI, they are welcome to return it to the store for a full refund.”
