Δεν μπορούμε παρά να θυμηθούμε τα λόγια του Μπιλ Σορτεν την περασμένη εβδομάδα « θα πρέπει να ναι κανείς τρελός αν νομίζει ότι θα αλλάξει γνώμη ο Τραμπ»! Οντως δεν άλλαξε και oύτε εβαλε νερό στο κρασί του.
Ο κ. Τραμπ υπέγραψε στο Οβάλ Γραφείο, το διάταγμα με το οποίοι τελειώνει μια και καλή η συμμετοχή Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών στη Συμφωνία Ελευθέρου Εμπορίου (TTP) που διαπραγματευόταν επί σειρά ετών η κυβέρνηση του προκατόχου του, Μπαράκ Ομπάμα.
O κ. Τραμπ είπε: "We want to start making our products again. We don't want to bring them. We want to make them here. And that doesn't mean we don't trade because we do trade. But we want to make our products here. And when you look at some of the original great people that ran this country, you will see that they felt very strongly about that. And we're going to start making our products. And there will be advantages to companies that do indeed make their products here.
"Ωστόσο ο Αυστραλός πρωθυπουργός δείχνει αποφασισμένος να επιδιώξει την εφαρμογή αυτής της συμφωνίας, η οποία είχε υπογραφθεί αλλά δεν έχει εφαρμοστεί. Την υπέγραψαν 12 χώρες: Αυστραλία, το Μπρουνέι, Καναδά, Χιλή, Ιαπωνία, Μαλαισία, Μεξικό, Νέα Ζηλανδία, Περού, Σιγκαπούρη, ΗΠΑ και το Βιετνάμ.
Ο κ. Τερνμπουλ πιστεύει ότι το μέλλον της Αυστραλίας βρίσκεται στο ελευθερο εμπόριο όπως είπε: "We are not the United States. Our economy is not that of the United States. Our jobs, our jobs growth is based on Australians having access to bigger markets. Being able to sell more services, sell more products, sell more of the product of our agriculture. What we need is bigger and better market opportunities and we are determined to make them available. We have done that. We have proved that."
