Alexis Tsipras: Turkish jets harassed my helicopter

The Greek prime minister says Turkish fighter jets harassed the helicopter in which he was travelling to a remote Greek island on Monday to mark his country independence day.

The move forced the helicopter pilot to carry out low manoeuvres until Greek fighter jets arrived to deflect the Turkish aircraft.

“They forced the helicopter I was on to manoeuvre low until Greek jets intercepted the forces violating our national air space," Alexis Tsipras said in a speech after the incident on the island of Agathonisi.
