Australia adopts North Macedonia name

Australia, has officially adopted the new constitutional name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as a spokesperson of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed to SBS Greek.

The country will be now referred to as Republic of North Macedonia and DFAT has updated its websites to reflect this change.  

“We congratulate Greece and the Republic of North Macedonia on resolving their long-standing dispute. Following notification from the Republic of North Macedonia, Australia has adopted use of this mutually agreed name”, said a spokesperson of DFAT.

Australia was one of the few countries worldwide that recognised the country as Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
