Car crashes into UK Parliament, injuring a “number” of pedestrians

A car has crashed into barriers outside the UK Parliament in the heart of London.

Armed police and dozens of emergency vehicles have swooped on the scene and members of the public have been ordered to stay away, The Sun reports.

Metropolitan Police confirmed that at 7.40am London time today (4.30pm AEST) a car collided into barriers outside the Houses of Parliament.

Police have arrested the male driver of the car at the scene.

A number of pedestrians have been injured. Officers remain at the scene.
