Commuting to work was a struggle for many Sydney-siders this morning, following three days of heavy rainfall and flooding across NSW having caused road closures, landslides and power outages.

Dozens of train lines were affected including the North Shore line due to a landslide in Artarmon, while ferries also experienced disruptions with the route from Manly to Circular Quay being cancelled for some time in the morning and the ones from Parramatta travelling only as far as Olympic Park.

Flooding and wild weather conditions are lashing NSW, also causing hazards to the electricity network with fallen power poles and large trees across roads.

More than 60 schools across the state have remained closed today, while authorities were sending out a message to Sydney motorists to avoid being on the roads if not necessary.

Torrential rain over the weekend led to many communities urged to evacuate as water levels peaked.

Around 200 people have reportedly been rescued after driving into floodwaters, while police are searching for a missing driver in the Hornsby region, following reports a car was swept off a causeway at Galston on Sunday.

More than 110,000 houses in Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast have been affected by power outages.
