Dutton's eligibility 'completely in doubt', says shadow attorney-general Mark Dreyfus

The man Peter Dutton hand-picked as the first Australian Border Force commissioner has divulged new details of the lengths the Minister's office went to in securing a tourist visa for an Italian nanny.

Roman Quaedvlieg, who was ousted from the Border Force job in March, has lodged a submission to a Senate inquiry into Mr Dutton's use of ministerial power in 2015 to grant visas to two European au pairs.

His submission was lodged with the Senate after Mr Quaedvlieg had watched former colleagues give hours of evidence to the committee's hearing in Canberra on Wednesday.

Dutton's eligibility 'completely in doubt'

A disaffected former immigration official is being accused of leaking information on the Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton.

The claim comes from Mr Dutton himself, as he continues to face pressure over his use of ministerial powers to grant tourist visas to two young European women.

And Labor is still pressuring him over his eligibility to sit in Parliament because of his ties to two childcare centres that get millions of dollars in federal government funding.
