Government pledges $1m to stop repeat of 'thunderstorm asthma'

The Victorian government will spend $1 million to develop an emergency plan to cope with any repeat of the devastating thunderstorm asthma that claimed nine lives.

Victorian ambulance minister Jill Hennessy announced the research funding, while adding $300,000 of the money will go to expanding pollen monitoring.

In a report released on Wednesday by the Inspector-General for Emergency Management, Tony Pearce, health issues uncovered in the November 21 disaster were revealed.
