Greek Australian man dies while trying to escape blaze in NSW

Chris Savva, a long-term resident of South Arm near Nambucca Heads died after his exit route was blocked by a burnt-out bridge.

The 63-year old man was declared deceased after his SUV was found after rolling down an embankment. 

Petra Campbell, a neighbour, said his partner Mandy and her son had found Mr Savva in the upturned car when they had their own passage blocked and were on foot.

"She's never going to forget the horrible sight," Ms Campbell told The Sydney Morning Herald on Tuesday.
