Australian Marine Efstathios Vamvoulidilopoulos was at La Rambla. The deadly car passed near him by less than a metre. He escaped tragedy by 20 centimetres as he said to SBS.

‘I felt the van as it passed me. This was my afternoon. Too much death! I can't talk sorry. I am crying!.’

He saw to car mowing dozens of people. After the first seconds in shock, he started assisting the victims. ‘

‘Critical response, CPR, advanced first aid! I was trying to stop the bleeding open the wound. Too much carnage’
