South Melbourne Hellas and Heidelberg United (Alexander the Great) both continued their perfect start to the tournament, recording their third straight wins to stay top of their respective groups. Their qualification for the semifinals now appears all but guaranteed.

Meanwhile, Sydney Olympic registered its first win in the new national competition, overcoming early disappointment from two opening defeats. With that crucial result, the Sydney blues now sit second in their group — a morale boost ahead of the upcoming all-Greek showdown.

Results and Standings

In Northern NSW, South Melbourne edged Broadmeadow 1–0 thanks to a 39th-minute strike from Japanese midfielder Yuki Uchida.

At the same time in Queensland, Sydney Olympic claimed a valuable 2–1 away win over Moreton City. The Blues went ahead through Ali Auglah (8’) and Michael Vakis (84’), before Marc Janko pulled one back for the hosts in the 88th minute.

The group standings are now:

1️-South Melbourne – 9 pts
2️- Sydney Olympic – 3 pts
3-Broadmeadow – 3 pts
4️- Moreton City – 3 pts

With three rounds remaining, a fierce contest is expected for the second qualifying spot.

The big highlight of Round 4 will be the all-Greek derby between Sydney Olympic and South Melbourne Hellas, this coming Saturday at 1 p.m. at Jubilee Stadium, Kogarah. The other group match will see Moreton City host Broadmeadow.

Heidelberg United in blistering form

Heidelberg United (Alexander the Great) produced a spectacular first half in Melbourne, crushing South Hobart 6–1.

The scorers for the dominant home side were Angus Taylor, Bul Juach (hat-trick), Bramwell, and Fletcher Fulton. South Hobart found a consolation goal in the 88th minute through Eli Wright.

In the same group, Marconi Stallions, coached by Greek-Australian Peter (Panagiotis) Tsekenis, defeated Wollongong Wolves 3–0.

The standings now show Heidelberg United on top with 9 points, followed by Marconi (6), Wollongong (3), and South Hobart (0). The two leaders face off on Friday night when Marconi hosts Heidelberg.
