Greek Embassy in Canberra confirmed to our program today that the President's Office informed the Australian Embassy in Athens that Mr Pavlopoulos has a very heavy schedule in September and thus cannot make his trip to the Antipodes.

However, he expressed the wish to visit Australia, possibly in 2019. The arrangements for the President's visit were well ahead and now the Embassy staff is in communication with Australian authorities and Greek-Australian organizations to the advice of the developments.

As for the scenario for the presidential visit to occur in 2019, this becomes difficult as both countries will be preparing for their parliamentary elections (Greece will also have to conduct elections for the European Parliament and the local Government elections).
