In order to celebrate the outstanding completion of the extraordinary journey “Green Project Australia 2018 Platypus trail: Renewables, UNESCO Biospheres and Aborigines”, of the Non Profit Civil Company Green Project, Mr Antonios Koliadis, Consul of Greece in Perth, kindly organised οn Friday 31 August 2018, atouching event in the premises of the Consulate, with the honoring presence of Mr Colin Ingram, Executive Director Parks and Visitor Services, Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, Government of Western Australia.
From the 5th up to the 31st August 2018, 26 days and nights packed with spectacular images out of this world. 5 federated states, i.e. Tasmania Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia. 2 federal territories, i.e. Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory. 13.110 kilometers of driving eco-friendly motor homes with solar panels, on snow and ice, through rivers and mud, near marine ecosystems, across the desert and droughty lands, tropical rainforests and bushlands, along glaciation and alpine areas.
42 unique interviews,where “everybody seems to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land and celebrate the First Australians’ ongoing culture and contribution to society”.

The Green Project 11 dedicated volunteer travellershave been -by the duration of their participation-: Dr Yannis Tzortzis, Attorney at Law at the Supreme Court, Regulatory Authority for Energy, Greece, Member of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain and Film Director, Mr Jason Tavlas, Journalist, Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), Ms Vassiliki Kassoumi, Medical Scientist, Mr Dimitris Paterakis, Civil Engineer, Photographer FUJI, Mr Kostis Vardas, Education Expert, Photographer, Ms Valeria Kaltezioti, Molecular Biologist, Ms Kassiani Kaltezioti, Interior Designer, Ms Sandy Vergitsi, Traditional Medicine Expert, Ms Katerina Charterou, Pharmaceutical Marketing, Professor Dr Aggelos Katsaggelos, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Northwestern University of Chicago, and Mr Yannis Anastasopoulos, Renewable Energy Sources Consultant and Organic Eating Entrepreneur.

Hellenic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy, the City of Athens, the Australian Embassy in Greece, the Greek Community of Melbourne (the Greek Centre for Contemporary Culture), the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad (kind support), the Goulandris Natural History Museum, had placed this project under their auspices.
The cost of the whole expedition has been kept to the absolute minimum and it has relied on the volunteer participants’ own resources.
During the next time period, the Green Project will complete the demanding processing of the vast original photographic and video material of 4 Terabytes that has been produced, in order that in the summer of 2019, it will organise a full photo exhibition and present a ground-breaking documentary film which will record the importance of the coexistence of the Renewable energy technology innovation and the traditional environmental knowledge of Australian Aborigines, within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. The promotion of Australian best environmental practices could become a valuable source of inspiration in developing Renewables in Greece.
