Melbourne has been named as Australia’s most innovative city, ranked in at 16th place in 2018, and 33rd in 2015.
Sydney dropped from 10th to 15th in the index, while Brisbane became the third Australian city to enter the global top fifty cities for the first time, ranking at 48th place.
New York took first place in a list and Tokyo - last year's winner - and the British capital London took second and third places.
London, Paris and Berlin were the only three European cities to make the top 20, with Athens ranking at 78th place.
