Milou: The best-known dog in Greece

Milou is a small dog known for her big personality, which in recent years has become widely recognised thanks to the funny and heart-warming videos she stars in with her “dad,” Greg Corpidis, on social media.

Milou came into Mr. Corpidis’ life in 2010, and this year marks 15 years together. “Since then, as a friend of mine says, she’s basically an extension of me - I haven’t gone anywhere without her,” Mr. Corpidis tells SBS Greek, describing their deep bond.

Milou loves travelling and going to the beach, and she has joined Mr. Corpidis on trips to places like Mexico, Finland, Spain, Bulgaria, Turkey, and various parts of Greece.
Their way of communicating is one of a kind. “She doesn’t even bark… [she makes a little sound] like she’s trying to talk,” Mr. Corpidis explains.

“The truth is, dogs need a lot of attention… the more time and energy you give them, the more they give back,” he adds.
If he had to describe her in three words, they would be “lovable, crazy, and authentic,” he said.

“What I really love about dogs is.. their authenticity. They don’t pretend, they don’t calculate - if they want something, they simply ask for it. No filters,” he added.

Beyond the everyday moments, Milou also teaches Mr. Corpidis life lessons. “She teaches me to love and to accept life as it comes… to live in the moment,” he said, visibly moved. With a laugh, he adds: “If she were a person, she’d complain all day… but at the end of the day, she’d still say thank you.”
The public has embraced her like their own dog. “People come up to me and say: ‘We feel like she’s our dog. We love her as if she were ours,’” he said.

Through her daily adventures, Milou reminds everyone that real love - simple, genuine, and selfless - can fit into a little dog who has become a huge part of Mr. Corpidis life, as well as the lives of those who have been watching her on social media over the years.
