As part of his trip to Sydney, Mr. Griffin wanted to visit St. Basil’s in order to congratulate personally the CEO of St. Basil’s Father Nicholas Stavropoulos, the Business Development Manager Mr. Georgios Koromvokis and the Greek Association of Sydney as they organized the biggest Community Appeal of the last 40 years.
According to a press release by “Vasileiada”, with the contribution of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, St. Basil’s Organization and the Greek Association of Sydney managed to collect 15 containers with more than 250 tonnes of basic necessities for the homeless people in Greece.
Mr. Griffin had the opportunity to be informed about the future plans of St. Basil’s and to tour around the facilities of the Organization.
At the conclusion of the visit, Father Milton Chrysavgis offered to the Ambassador a painting that was handmade by the residents of St Basil’s.
The painting was a pomegranate tree and it is known that pomegranate is the symbol of abundance and happiness.
Mr. Griffin thanked the CEO and the Managers of St. Basil’s for their warm hospitality and mainly for their beautiful present and he promised to visit again in his next trip the St. Basil’s Organization.
