The annual presentation ceremony for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek under the auspices of the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney, was held earlier this month at the University of Sydney.

More than 110 candidates participated in the written and oral examinations in May 2018, 99 of whom succeeded the title at levels A1 (8-12 years), A1 (for adolescents and adults), A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2.

In their greetings, Mr Christos Karras, the Consul General of Greece in Sydney and Dr Anthony Dracopoulos, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Modern Greek and Byzantine Studies of the University of Sydney, stressed the value of learning the Greek Language and its potentials for the students now and in the future.

The Hellenic Lyceum Sydney participated by presenting its Greek traditional costumes. The production of the well-known director Kosta Nikas for the Greek language was great.

The examinations for the Certificate of Attainment in Greek are provided each year by the Centre for the Greek Language. The Sydney Examination Center (email: hellenicedu.sydney@gmail.com) is under the auspices of the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney. The Certificate of Attainment in Greek is a valuable qualification that can be used for higher education as well as in the Australian labor market as it is the only recognized certificate for Greek by NESA (New South Wales Education Standards Authority).

Congratulations to all who participated and were awarded.
