Science connects Australia and Greece

Two Greek students receive a fellowship to come to Australia in 2019 and take part in research programs at the University of Melbourne.

The Greek Australian fellowship program was first announced in 2016. It gives young Greek scientists the opportunity to spend six months in Australia and specifically in Melbourne to take part in university research. It's the outcome of co-operation by  professor of neuropsychiatry Chris Pantelis, from Melbourne University and professor Nikos Stefanis from National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Its successful implementation has led to a re-launch of the initiative. In 2019, two more Greek students will receive the fellowship and take part in a research program at the University of Melbourne.

Professor Christos Pantelis, who co-ordinates the research program, spoke at SBS radio Greek program of SBS radio for these new fellowships, his interesting research on the association of white blood cells with schizophrenia and his Greek origin.
