St Andrew’s Grammar year 9 students have won a trans-Tasman spelling competition.

St Andrew’s Grammar year 9 students won Literacy Planet’s Word Mania competition, where students from schools across Australia and New Zealand work online to create as many words as they can from randomly generated letters.

“Other schools in the competition have hundreds of students who could take part, but we had only 19 very dedicated and committed kids who were determined to win,” Principal Craig Monaghan said.
