Sydney Airport arrest over NYE threats

A man has been arrested by counter-terrorism police at Sydney Airport off a flight from London and charged with making threats related to New Year's Eve. Dimitris Kametopoulos reports.

The 40-year-old was arrested by NSW Police Terrorism Investigation Squad officers on Thursday on the basis of information from the public.

Search warrants were executed at a residence in Chippendale in inner Sydney and at an inner western Sydney storage facility where items including documents and hard drives were seized.

Police said the man was charged over documents containing threats contrary to the Crimes Act concerning online blogs and was refused bail prior to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday.
