Central figure was 101 years old veteran Alf Carpenter who touched everyone when he recited The Ode. The main address was by Lieutenant General Nikolaos Christopoulos, Chief of Staff of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff.

NSW Governor David Hurley was represented by his Official Secretary, Colonel Michael Miller RFD.

In attendance were Greece's Consul General, Christos Karras, Cyprus' High Commisioner Martha Mavromatis, the President of the Joint Committee, James Jordan, the President of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, Harry Danalis, federal and state politicians, Councillors of various Sydney Councils and members of the community at large.
