Turkish court rejects request for release of Greek soldiers

A Turkish court rejected on Wednesday a renewed request by the lawyers of the two Greek soldiers detained by Turkish authorities for their release.

The judges made the decision on the grounds that nothing has changed since the two men were initially detained in early March. They are being held in a jail in Adrianoupolis.

The United States is fully engaged on the question of the two Greek soldiers held in Turkey and strongly supports the approach taken by the Greek prime minister, US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt said in statements to "Arcadia Portal" webTV  on Wednesday. The ambassador talked to the portal in the city of Tripolis, where he had paid a visit to the University of the Peloponnese.
