A couple of weeks have passed since the Nick Kyrgios’ birthday saga, after Stefanos Tsitsipas made public his phone number on an Instagram post depicting a photo of himself holding a sign with the phrase “Call me”.

It didn’t take long for fans to realise the number belonged to Kyrgios, who thus ended up having a rather unusual celebration bombarded with hundreds of calls and messages for birthday wishes.

“You are an absolute idiot… everyone stop calling me,” Kyrgios commented on the Instagram post.

“I can’t even play music, I can’t do anything, please stop calling my cell phone. Appreciate it,” he said later in a public message.
The prank is sure to have made history but many fans wondered whether the relationship between the two tennis stars went sour after that.

But a public video chat they had on Wednesday seems to dismiss any concerns.

“Good to see you smile,” Tsitsipas tells Kyrgios in their brief chat after an exchange of pleasantries.

“My phone is still recovering,” the Greek-Australian says with a laugh.
But the no. 6 in world rankings was quick to reassure him he “had no idea it would end up like this”.

“But I think it’s time to let everyone know that you approved. It’s not like I did it without your approval,” he added.

While Kyrgios didn’t deny the claim, he made a cheeky proposal seeking his Greek friend’s approval to publicly share his number as well.

Tsitsipas did not hesitate to take up the challenge.

“Yeah do it. This way I can change my number because I get a lot of spam messages that I want to minimize. Please do it.”
