Japan’s Yokohama F Marinos, coached by Greek-Australian Ange Postecoglou scored a thumping victory 4-0 against Sydney FC for the second round of the Asian Champions League, last night.
Dominant at domestic level where they haven't lost in 12 games since late October, Sydney were outclassed on Wednesday and had no answer to the speed and movement of the home side.
It continued a woeful ACL record of late for Sydney, who have won just one of their last 17 games in the competition.
Playing their first game in almost three weeks after two postponements, Sydney were opened up too easily, contributing to their own downfall with some defensive errors.
Yokohama scored three goals in the first half and one in the second to complete its convincing victory.

Following the one-sided game, the former Socceroos coach talked about his Japanese club's fearless approach and his desire for them to play a unique style of football which will get everyone talking.
"We started the game well, we took control of the game and we dominated," Postecoglou said.
"I think we were really disciplined today in making sure that we played our football in the opposition's half and put them under pressure and we got the rewards and the scoreline I think reflects how dominant we were in the game."
His reigning J1 league champions start their title defence next weekend and Postecoglou is convinced they have yet to hit their peak.
«We can improve in a lot of areas," he said.
"The important thing for us is the players now really believe in our football and they play without fear and it makes a big difference."
