State governments have rejected a proposal to charge drivers who enter capital cities during peak hour, as a way to reduce congestion in the CBD.
Recommendations from the Grattan Institute say that Australia should follow the example of London and Stockholm, by taxing drivers who use busy roads at peak travel times.
Trudging on a painfully slow commute into the CBD is a headache shared by drivers in capital cities across the country.
Now, the Grattan Institute says it’s no longer an option to simply build more roads.
