The preliminary results for a vaccine to combat coronavirus give researchers in the US hope, as the receivers have managed to develop antibodies.

The vaccine is being developed by biotech company Moderna and the National Institutes of Health.

In the first stage, 45 people received the vaccine. They managed to develop antibodies but some of the have developed some side-effects such as slight fever and muscle pains. Researchers are confident however that the vaccine is ready to move to larger trials.

Meanwhile in Australia, the University of Queensland begun trials on its own version of the vaccine, on a group of volunteers. 120 volunteers have been selected and they will be injected and monitored closely. Preliminary results are expected in 2-3 months.
