The name of the victim - Frankie Victor Prineas - was made public yesterday following the lifting of the court suppression order
The funeral for 27-year old Frankie Victor Prineas, who suffered fatal stab wounds from an alleged attack, will take place next Wednesday 22 January.
The Greek Australian man was found by police last Saturday in a critical condition at a Canberra townhouse and was taken to hospital where he passed shortly after.
The man charged over the alleged stabbing murder, Jayscen Anthony Newby, 26, appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court court this week and is expected to reappear in March.
Frankie’s name was made public following the lifting of a suppression order.
Family and friends said he was a remarkable and humble young man, with his father describing him as the son any parent would be proud of.
Frankie’s friends are holding a special event in his memory on Saturday 1 February, titled “Cruise for Frankie”, as a reference to the young man’s love for the car community.
A raffle will also take place with all proceeds donated to the victim’s family.
Rainfall offered reprieve in the region
Rain along with temperature drop has helped authorities better address the bushfire situation around the ACT area in recent days.
Mary's Hill fire remains at about 4.6 kilometres away from the territory's border and no closer than 33.5 kilometres from residential areas.
However, air quality continues to be extremely poor in the capital.
