Ahmedabad based cyclist-Khushali covered 1000 kilometers in just 74.5 hours

Lt officer of NCC, Khushali has qualified for Paris-Brest-Paris cycling championship, got her name in Guinness World Records for participating in Satara mountain run.

A Few years back, sports industry used to be a male-dominated industry whether it is Cricket, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Wrestling or Swimming but time has changed. Many girls from different parts of the country are achieving something unique in the field of sports and providing a perfect example of the male-dominated society. Recently, a woman cyclist from Ahmedabad, Lt Khushali Purohit has created history when she has completed Brevet des Randonneurs Mondiaux (200,300,400 and 600 kilometers) and won Super Randonneur title. Here's a look at Khushali's Achievement, her next target, and problems she faced during the race.

Lt officer of NCC at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Khushali had participated in BRM organized by The Cycling Club of Baroda and covered 1000 kilometers of distance in just 74 hours and five minutes.Taking to SBS about her achievement, Khushali told, we were given 75 hours of cut of time to complete the race, and we finished it in 74 hours and five minutes - 55 minutes earlier then cut of time. As it is one of the very hardest competition, Khushali and her team had taken only six hours of sleep to cover the distance, and she got swelling in her legs due to 26 hours of constant cycling. Total eight cyclists participated in the race with five from Ahmedabad. Khushali became the first female cyclist who has achieved this mark.

How Khushali covered the distance

What is BRM?
BRM - Brevets De Randonneur Mondiaux are the rides of a fixed distance. If any cyclist covered the distance more than 200 kilometers - it is known as one BRM. One of the toughest race was introduced by France.  

Qualified for Paris-Brest-Paris
After successfully achieving BRM title, Khushali has qualified for Paris-Brest-Paris race. 1200 kilometers long run will organize in Paris in 2019.

Khushali got her name in Guinness World Records
Khushali has honored with prestigious Guinness World Records for participating in Satara Hill Half Marathon. As total 4801 runners participated in the race - the most people in a single mountain run.
