The Community Status Resolution Service (CSRS) is a free service offered by the Department of Immigration and Broder protection. This is for the people who have overstayed their visa or have a Bridging visa E.

When anyone approaches DIBP with an expired Australian visa or a Bridging visa E, the person can be referred to the CSRS. CSRS can help to resolve this type of immigration matter. A Community Status Resolution officer will be able to give information about person's immigration or departure options, answer questions and connect the person with organizations for further assistance if needed.

It is advised that the people should cooperate to get help or advice on immigration status matter. Depending on the particular case, DIBP may grant a Bridging visa E. This allows the person stay in Australia for a short time while the final decision is made.

The Community Status Resolution Service (CSRS) regularly conduct compliance activity to locate people living in the community unlawfully.  If anyone is found in the community without a valid visa, the person could be detained and removed from Australia, could face a three-year re-entry ban from visiting Australia again.

The CSRS holds outreach sessions in some regional areas around Australia. The CSRS is not available in all immigration offices. See Community Status Resolution Service office locations for a list of immigration offices that provide Bridging visa E and status resolution services.

For more information, the person can call CSRS on 1300 853 773  or 131 450 (for interpreting assistance)
