Three cases of Zika Virus have been recorded in Gujarat's biggest city-Ahmedabad. Two cases in city's eastern area Bapunagar and one in Memnagar in the south.
For undisclosed reasons the Ahmedabad Municipal corporation and Gujarat state government did not make this information public for a few days.
Recently the World Health Organisation announced in its report that first Zika virus cases were recorded in India and they were in Gujarat, which forced the state government to spring into action.
Last month Gujarat's capital city Gandhinagar was a host to African Development Bank meetings, which brought many people from African nations to Gujarat. The event was inaugrated by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Observers believe the Zika virus cases were brushed under the carpet to facilitate smooth running of this prestigious international event.
Ahmedabad municipal hospital has also recorded 258 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting, 27 cases of Jaundice and 27 typhoid cases in a short span of just three days.
As monsoon approaches, World Health Organisation is now keeping an eye on the possible spread of Zika virus in India and so will local and state governments of Gujarat.
