The City of Sydney in collaboration with their International Student Leadership and Ambassador (ISLA) program is organising a Youth Conference "Leading Without Authority" for High School to University level Students.
Leadership is one of the most written and talked about subjects. It sets the benchmark for students, employees and others who are in the professional world, with weak leadership inviting a negative culture, unsatisfactory performance outcomes and further stress in roles that are already high pressure.
It may also be confusing to know how to put the principals of leadership into action in an authentic way. So this youth leadership conference aims to build leadership capabilities of students and to bridge the gap between local and international students.

Build leadership capabilities of students: Most of the students when graduate are not in a position of authority, and most people believe that only people with power can lead. Thus, giving students a skillset, they can utilise wherever they are in their career.
Bridge the gap between local and international students: In past student surveys, ISLA discovered that international students find it hard to make friends with local students and vice-versa. Use the forum to provide an opportunity for domestic and international students to learn from each other.
The conference provides an opportunity to build the leadership capacity of City’s youth leaders by inviting thoughts leaders to share their learning and experiences; providing an opportunity for local and international students to work and learn together and to strengthen the relationship between the City of Sydney and its future leaders.
If you are searching answers to the following questions: How can I develop my global leadership capacities to influence others to follow me? Am I am struggling to manage people without formal authority and power? How do I inspire other people and motivate them to achieve the potential of my team? How can I meet with other young leaders to learn from their experiences and share mine?
The conference will be addressed by two potential speakers Mr Richard Burton and Mrs Lisa Atkins. Mr Richard is a CEO of InnerZone, professional business coaching institute and Mrs Lisa specialises in communication, leadership and career design. This conference will focus on leading when you do not have formal authority or not in directing position and also address how to encounter common leadership challenges.
