Non-resident Gujaratis keen on helping with Health and Education services in India.

The Charusat hospital was built in Charotar with the help of  Rs 90 crore donation from  120 NRIs and 200 local donors. This multispecialty hospital has world-class modern facilities and an ICU unit. This hospital is housed in a University campus. An institution funded and supported by  Non-resident  Gujaratis.

“It was our dream to bring modern world-class medical facilities to our hometowns in rural Gujarat,” says one of the donors Dr Ashvin Patel. Another NRI who has extensively donated in the field of education, health and supported many other institutions in rural Gujarat is the Chief Executive of IPCO, Devang Patel 

Krishna hospital in Karamsad provides good quality health care services to the local with a dedicated ward for free services. Many Non-resident Gujaratis donate to fund the  Aashirvad ward that offers all types of free medical aid to needy. Ex NDDB chairperson Amrita Patel is one of the supporters of Krishna hospital actively associated with it along with many locals and NRI’s.

One of the health services supported by Non-resident Gujaratis is providing clean drinking water. NRI donations fund RO water (water purified using Reverse Osmosis technology) in more than 650 villages. Recent trend suggests modern Community halls, Gardens, Entrance gates, Books, repairing of the school building are being supported by donations received from abroad.

Residents of Dharmaj, a small town in central Gujarat now settled in countries across the world are often called NRD - Non-resident Dharmajian. They include prominent businessmen, educationists and industrialists who have been expressing the love for their hometown in big donations.

Dr.Shashi Patel and Smt Kate Patel of Western Australia, solicitor Bhupendra Patel and Anjana Patel of New Zealand love their hometown of Dharmaj, population 15,000. The 13 banks in Dharmaj are said to have more than 10,000 crore deposits’ as reported by the times of India making it the richest town in India.
