Every year on Australia day the contribution of outstanding members of the community is recognised by various categories of awards. The Order of Australia recognises contribution at a national level and nominations are encouraged from all members of the Australian public. Australian of the year awards operate at two levels state/territory and national. While there can be only one winner in each category the contribution of each of the finalist is inspiring.
