The Australian Tennis Championships have begun in Melbourne, featuring all-abilities players from across the country. The three-day event brings together the elite of Australia’s all-inclusive tennis categories in a competition that’s been running for over two decades.

Highlights

  • Nearly 60 athletes from nearly every state and territory in the country are competing for a national title at an internationally renowned sporting venue.
  • The event is usually held during the Australian Open but was pushed back three months due to COVID disruptions.
  • The competition is held over four categories: for players with an intellectual disability, down syndrome, autism and, for the first time, deaf or hearing-impaired.
